BeDimensional Presents the First Industrial Implementation of Graphene Heating Paint in Genoa

The event marks the operational debut of the technology, applied in a real-world context through a conductive solution capable of generating heat uniformly and efficiently, confirming BeDimensional’s pioneering role in the energy transition through advanced materials

BeDimensional, a leading company in the industrial production of two-dimensional materials and a partner in the Graphene Flagship's 2D-PRINTABLE project, presented at its production facility in Genoa the first industrial implementation of its latest innovation: graphene heating paint, marking the start of large-scale adoption of an innovative radiant technology developed for the construction and energy sectors.

The system uses a graphene-based conductive coating capable of generating heat in a uniform and controlled way, reaching temperatures that ensure thermal comfort while delivering competitive savings compared to conventional radiators. The functional paint is the result of a collaboration between BeDimensional and Estalia Coatings through the Franchi&Kim brand, while its application on fibre-cement panels was carried out with the partner SIL (Società Italiana Lastre).

The implementation of this radiant technology is part of a broader industrial strategy: building a solid European supply chain for two-dimensional materials. BeDimensional considers graphene and 2D crystals as strategic assets for Europe’s industrial competitiveness in key sectors such as automotive, batteries, aerospace, construction and energy technologies, where these materials can deliver radical improvements in efficiency, durability and sustainability.

“Today marks an important milestone in the development of the graphene-based radiant coating which, thanks also to the vision and commitment of our partners Estalia and SIL, demonstrates its maturity and scalability,” said Vittorio Pellegrini, CEO of BeDimensional. “Europe must lead the industrialisation of advanced materials. Our scale-up plan – from 3 to over 30 tonnes per year – is designed to consolidate a dedicated European supply chain for two-dimensional materials, ensuring technological independence and strengthening the continent’s long-term competitiveness.”

The event brought together institutional stakeholders and industrial partners, who were able to see the technology in action and explore, together with BeDimensional’s technical and scientific team, the performance data and potential applications in the construction sector, from energy retrofitting to new building projects.

The transition from technological validation to the first industrial implementation consolidates BeDimensional’s role in Italy’s innovation landscape and provides a tangible demonstration of the potential of two-dimensional materials. This achievement is part of the company’s growth journey, founded in 2016 as a spin-off of the Graphene Labs at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), with the goal of producing two-dimensional crystals on an industrial scale and contributing to the evolution of manufacturing towards more efficient, sustainable, and high-performance materials.
